Camp
Love for a Child Kids Camp is a one week experience for children in foster care, ages 6-12, to create childhood memories in a safe, fun filled environment. Our faith focused overnight camp was created for children of trauma, to be given the opportunity to create positive lifelong memories. Kids Camps are located throughout Michigan, hosted by a trauma informed and trained team of over 200+ volunteers. At camp, each foster child participates in swimming, lakefront activities, rock climbing, arts & crafts, a birthday party, princess tea party or man walk, engaging teaching lessons, boat rides, bon fires and more. Our goal is to serve each foster child at camp like royalty and to celebrate their achievements. For almost two decades , our camp has been in existence to teach foster children that God’s love can heal the hurt with hope and replace loss with actions of authentic love. In a World where children of trauma can feel very overlooked, they have become our primary focus. We believe at camp, Kids should be Kids, and to provide childhood memories, where they have been stolen from them. It’s also for adults, to connect with people of compassion, serve a deserving group of children, and to help find their own greater purpose. Authentically and wholeheartedly, everything we do is, Love for a Child.

Love for a Chid host a FREE week to these children to be reminded that there are compassionate people who care, who step away from reality for one week to simply allow, Kids to be Kids.
Timmy: A Foster Care Story
This is Timmy, a Love for a Child Camp Counselor. In 2008, Timmy (Age 10) showed up to a camp as a foster child seeking hope. Having faced many challenges of foster care in Michigan, Timmy was statistically destined to have a hard life, predicted to fail at most things due to the harsh outcomes of Michigan’s foster care system. Timmy, a fighter, would become stronger than imaginable, accomplishing goals most children and teens do not in the system. Most importantly, 11 years later he would choose to volunteer at Love for a Child summer camp, to the very foster kids, where it all began for him stepping off the bus. This is Timmy’s story. A true story about bravery and encouragement. We believe Kids should be Kids, to replace the hurt with hope. For everything that we do is authentically and wholeheartedly, Love for a Child.
